Therapy can be challenging to jump into. I want to humanize the experience as much as possible. Our first session will be introducing ourselves to one another and learning more about why you are seeking therapy services at this time. Lots of questions, totally normal for the first session. We will discuss all the formalities such as diagnosis (if needed), treatment plan, frequency of sessions, and what you want to get out of therapy. From there, our sessions will focus on making movement towards treatment goals.

No, you don’t have to have a mental health diagnosis to receive therapy. To bill insurance, insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis to justify payment of services. We can talk about what this looks like for you and how this will impact treatment.

Not at this time. I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, many of my clients are still able to receive partial reimbursement through their insurance plans by using a superbill, which I provide upon request. We can talk more about this option if you are interested and we can go through the steps on how you can submit those to receive your out-of-network benefits.

No. I am a master’s level licensed clinical mental health counselor; I cannot prescribe medications. Medication management services are part of some folk’s mental health journey, but it isn’t required. If you are curious about utilizing medication with psychotherapy, I can provide you a referral to a prescriber of your choice.
